HR Assistant

The job description is based on the critical needs required for the above stated position. The position is classified as a 0.6 FTE position with 24 hours achieved weekly. Each shift will consist of not less than 5 hours per day with one 30-minute unpaid lunch break. This role supports Pro-Western Mechanical’s Human Resources department through assistance in onboarding, employee data management, safety documentation, and administrative support.

Responsibilities and Activities

  • Support full-cycle onboarding and offboarding processes.
  • Schedule field staff performance reviews.
  • Maintain and update employee records and filing systems.
  • Assist in streamlining HR processes and procedures.
  • Support policy and procedure revisions under HR Manager guidance.
  • Add new employees to safety systems and coordinate WHMIS training.
  • Support WCB claims processing and documentation.
  • Monitor safety documentation for completion and compliance.
  • Event planning.
  • Perform other administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Typing speed of 40 WPM or higher (typing test required).
  • Strong follow-up and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
  • Strong Excel skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and capable of working independently.
  • Administrative or entry-level HR experience/education considered an asset.
